Long time Member and past-Club Treasurer Jim Bevington promoted an Evening of Jazz at Bury Road United Reformed Church on Saturday 8 October 2016, featuring Tim Ragamuffins, with proceeds towards Church funds. It was well supported by members of the local United Reformed churches, the Jazz Club, Rotary (Jim is a member) and the public. Here are some photos (not brilliant quality but the venue was difficult for unobtrusive photography):
“Jazz in the Nave - New Orleans Style” was held at Portsmouth Cathedral on Saturday 16 May 2015 with old favourites the Sussex Jazz Kings. The gig was in aid of the Roberts Fund and Portsmouth Cathedral and raised the marvellous sum of over £2700. Instrumental (is that a pun?) in organising it was Gosport member Ann Wilson, who is delighted that so many Club members were there (well over 20). A very enjoyable evening was had by all, with great jazz in lovely surroundings and a Ploughman’s Supper as well! Here are a few photos:
Chris (our Band Booking Secretary) and Vicky Newman (Events Organiser and Publicity Officer) each year spend December to January ‘down under’ in Australia. Here are two photos of them in January 2017:
Joe Croll, who runs the New Yellow Dog Jazz Club in Chandler’s Ford, and Dave Stradwick’s Sussex Jazz Kings each year promote a Jazz Boat cruise from Southampton to Cowes on the Isle of Wight and back. This year it was on Sunday 16 July and several members of Gosport Jazz Club joined it. The Sussex Jazz Kings perform whilst the boat is sailing to and from Cowes and there is also a brolly parade on arrival in Cowes. Here are a selection of photos from the 2017 cruise:
